Eleanor V R Smith is a contemporary illustrator, print maker and surface pattern designer. Interested in illustration, type, colour, trends and print she likes to include all of this in her work.

Eleanor's style is inspired by many aspects of everyday life from nature and animals to inanimate objects and architecture. She enjoys beginning the design process by creating both intricate and simple illustrations as well as interpretations of any chosen theme with the use of different mark and print making techniques.

Whilst Eleanor strives to maintain a handcrafted element, her work is initially hand rendered and then digitally developed and manipulated. Her prints range from playful conversationals to abstract geometrics and always feature contemporary colours. Her work varies from quiet, clean designs to layered and complex ones with stylised illustrations, texture and marks, which she then develops into surface patterns for many products including those for fashion, interiors and gifting.

Winner of Sofa.coms 2014 Emerging Designers competition and creator of Contemporary Colour Blog, Eleanor is currently working as a self-employed freelancer who is available for collaborations, commissions and freelance work.
